So, yeah, like, I have a wonderful new doctor. A Phillipine woman. Dr. Intaphan. Really, I love her! The best g.p. I've ever had. Told me this morning I am on the threshold of diabetes. Need to start eating like a diabetic. Lose 25 pounds. No sugar. Little carb intake. Little to no pasta (lasagna, mac and cheese, spaghetti with meatballs, orzo, couscous) bread, rice, all of the above. So, my dear sibs, it's very possible that the dreaded "D" will get us all. I say we go on a group diet. First prize? A pot of Mom's dumplings.
Crap. Can't say I didn't expect this day to come. I'm fat and I eat ice cream like it's oxygen.

Figlet, I feel for you. I dread "the day" also, and have myself tested at least once a year, twice if I feel freaked out by symptoms that could be that. So far I remain a sugar and carb consumer despite the size of my volumptious bootie. I suggest a hysterectomy asap to spare humanity of a crazed pmsing woman who cant have salt and sugar. I know my homecidal mood swings and salt/sugar cravings have disappeared and I am profoundly thankful. Keep us posted on your journey ... we're here for all your venting needs. With life settling down a bit up here I want to blog on a regular basis. What a strange word blog is.It makes me think of wooden shoes and Hans Brinker.
Fig - do not go gentley into that good night. I have embraced juicing as you know and have found that things that aren't supposed to get better can and do. Juice a couple of days a week and see if that changes your counts. Worth a try if you can still eat pasta on the weekend.
Toot, what exactly do you juice? Fruit juice is verboten, says my sweet doctor. Do you do veggies, or what? Have you been told you have borderline diabetes too? What do you mean when you say "things can be improved?"
Im interested in some juicing education also Von Tootlesburg
The worlds best juicing is greens - spinach - lettuce - kale - broccoli - any and all spring greens - you name it. Carrots also are terrific. Fig - carrots and fruits are high in sugars but the wide array of greens not so much. Aggressive juicing has succefully lowered bp - reduced cholesteral - caused increased function in multiple glands and organs. As far as pancreas - I would put money on it. Here is the thing with conventional medicine and diabetes. They treat the symptoms. Pancreas not working? Ok then you will have to cut out carbs. The question is, can the function of the pancreas be improved? If so, it will be a nutritional - detox - solution. I would research it aggressively.
