O.K. Since ToJoSh has twice added Democratic politics to our Blog, I, as one who will support the Republican ticket, might as well respond. I love all y'all up there in blue (or is it purple) land, but here goes.

#1 I can't think of anything worse for this country right now than a Democratic monopoly in Washington D.C.. Since the Democrats have Capital Hill, we need to balance the leftist ideology by denying them full power in the Executive and Legislative branches of government. This can only happen by electing a Republican. Additionally...

#2 The next President will undoubtedly name one if not two Supreme Court Justices, thus affecting the make-up of the Judicial branch. Barack Obama not only supports abortion, but partial-birth abortion, a heinous practice that rivals the pagan cultures of the Mayans and Aztecs. With the appointments by a pro-life President (insert McCain), building upon the appointments of Alito and Roberts, we may have our only chance to reverse a judicial travesty. This is not a minor subject. This is huge. However...

#3 Yes, we all know that the economy is in shambles. But, it becomes increasingly more evident that noone really knows how to fix it. All the experts say that the recent bailout is a gamble, but we had no other alternative. Does McCain know how to fix the economy? No. Obama? No. Paulsen? I don't think so. The most recent Nobel winner? Hard to say. I Know I don't. But I do know that Obama's socialist leanings (and yes, they are) are untested at best. We can no longer suggest that the economic systems of Western Europe (insert socialism) are superior or even desirable. Their economies are as broken as our own. I know, I know, it's all about Globalism. Indeed, as experts are throwing around terms such as "A new financial world order," it seems apparent that this current economic crisis will usher in more globalism than most Baptists ever thought they'd see. And since we are entering a new global order, it's worth remembering that...

#4 No President can control the "Twelver" intentions deep in the heart of Ahmadinejad. No President can remove Kim Jong Il's heart-felt desires to destroy the South (in today's news.) No President can dismantle Putin's heart-felt greed for power. No President can quench Libya's heart-felt desire for Russian weaponry. No President can defeat the hatred within Hamas, the El-Aqsa Brigade or Al-Qaida. Then there's Chavez and the Saudi family, the nuclear disaster that is Pakistan, China, Ach! There will be much more bloodshed in the 21st century; of that I am certain. No matter who is President, it is possible that my sons will face war. The world is so holistically screwed up, it can only be the result of the master deceiver. God's plan, biblical prophecy is unfolding right before our eyes. I would prefer to have at least one unabashed Christian, and not one respresented by Rev. Wright and his ilk, in the White House. One who will seek His face as decisions are made. I have no doubt that the next four years will be huge. Believe me, I worry about this, and I believe that is a sin. And because of that...

#5 We must all remember that God empowers those whom he chooses. As clearly stated in Samuel, nobody but those whom God has ordained will become leaders. Did Bush help propel prophetic events? Without doubt. Of course. So will McCain or Obama. I think we are living in the last days. I totally do. That doesn't mean we should just give up. But it does mean that we should be even more fervent in our walk with Christ, more devoted to our fellow immortal, and devoted to laying up our treasures in heaven.

#6 As you all have been desiring for several lines now, Resush is shushing.

well actually I have not even once inserted any democratic comments. I posted a funny photo of Mccain and Obama and also posted one economists view that we should avoid knee jerk spending cuts. I simply posted ideology, not partisan preference. But hey, since you have made some points, I will respond with my thoughts. >1. Balance is not balance. Not since the Reagan days. What you are in fact proposing is grid-lock. This is a time when mighty deeds need doing. With what you have proposed the only mighty deeds will be picking up the peices of a failed government that was unable to overcome partisan rancor and accomplish anything. >2. I will let this website speak for me - http://www.matthew25.org/paf/index.htm It speaks to Obamas view of abortion which you have wrong and makes a strong case that under an Obama presidency ther will be less abortions than under a Mccain presidency. It also clearly spells out the belief that overturning Roe Vs Wade in fact accomplishes much at all. For those who dont know, Mathew25 is a committed christian evangelical group who do not believe that Charles Swindol and the like speak for them. In short, Me. >3. Your logic is that since in your opinion no one knows how to fix the economy that we should vote for the guy who supports the policies who broke it. Touche' got me there. Also, nothing is more socialist than what the bush administration has done with the "bail-out." Unfortunately you have consumed the koolaide and bought into the RNC smear that Obama is a socialist. He is in fact a big government guy. So am I. He is not a rampant globalist. You may be amused to know that Mccain has grilled him for being too protectionist - just the oposite of globalism. To use your logic, Obama is the only safe bet for Baptists fearing the Antichrist is at the door. 4.> Indeed some of your points are true. I don't agree with you on Putin but hey, let's be friends. I also don't believe that Mccain is an unabashed Christian in the least. I would be shocked if he is Christian at all. There are no Jimmy Carter's running this year so you should really drop that point. As for Mccain on foriegn affairs - he is a fighter. He likes it and is comfortable there. You will have no chance of peace with him - none. Give the guy who wants to talk an opportunity to have the conversations. Teddy Roosevelt talked the Russians and Japanese out of war. But he like Obama was prepared to kick but if he failed. Mccain, just wants to kick but and we are running out of feet.#5 and #6 - Yep - or as Sarah says, "you betcha!" Love you Fig - Vote Obama

Me again. As to the Christian faith of the two yahoos - here are their words directly from the Presidential Forum at Saddleback. They can speak for themselves: FIRST BARACK WARREN: Everybody's got a world view, a Buddhist, a Baptist, a secularist, an atheist, everybody's got a world view. I wrote or invited people who get newsletter to write in their questions. We have about 200,000 questions that came in. And I only have 500 in this section. So no matter how you answer these world view questions, somebody's not going to like it, because we're all different kinds of world views in America. But as -- people want to know what your world view is. So as we go through this, these mine fields, let's just kind of tick them off, the mine fields of America.

The first one is Christianity. Now, you've made no doubts about your faith in Jesus Christ. What does that mean to you? What does it mean to you to trust in Christ? And what does that mean to you on a daily basis? What does that really look like?

OBAMA: As a starting point, it means I believe in -- that Jesus Christ died for my sins, and that I am redeemed through him. That is a source of strength and sustenance on a daily basis. Yes, I know that I don't walk alone. And I know that if I can get myself out of the way, that I can maybe carry out in some small way what he intends. And it means that those sins that I have on a fairly regular basis, hopefully will be washed away.

But what it also means, I think, is a sense of obligation to embrace not just words, but through deeds, the expectations, I think, that god has for us. And that means thinking about the least of these. It means acting -- well, acting justly, and loving mercy, and walking humbly with our god. And that -- I think trying to apply those lessons on a daily basis, knowing that you're going to fall a little bit short each day, and then being able to kind of take note and saying, well, that didn't quite work out the way I think it should have, but maybe I can get a little bit better. It gives me the confidence to try things, including things like running for president, where you're going to screw up once in a while.
AND HEEEEERE'S JOHNNY!WARREN: Welcome back. Welcome back. And we're here with Senator John McCain.

Now, John, in this next section we're going to talk about world view. And I actually invited a couple hundred thousand people of my personal friends to send me their questions. And these are heartland questions that came in from all over America. No matter how you answer them, somebody's not going to like them, because we have many world views, obviously, in America. But let's walk through these minefields together.

First, you've made no doubt about the fact that you are a Christian. You publicly say you're a follower of Christ. What does that mean to you and how does faith work out in your life on a daily basis? What does it mean to you?

MCCAIN: It means I'm saved and forgiven. We're talking about the world. Our faith encompasses not just the United States of America but the world. Can I tell you another story real quick?

WARREN: Sure.

Note by toot - he has used this story on the stump for 2 years - it's canned - end biased note.

(LAUGHTER)

MCCAIN: The Vietnamese kept us in prison in conditions of solitary confinement, or two or three to a cell. They did that because they knew they could break down our resistance. One of the techniques that they used to get information was to take ropes and tie them around your biceps, loop the rope around your head and pull it down beneath your knees and leave you in that position. You can imagine it's very uncomfortable.

One night, I was being punished in that fashion. All of sudden the door of the cell opened and the guard came in. The guy who was just -- what we call the gun guard -- just walked around the camp with the gun on his shoulder. He went like this and loosened the ropes. He came back about four hours later and tightened them up again and left.

The following Christmas, because it was Christmas day, we were allowed to stand outside of our cell for a few minutes. In those days we were not allowed to see or communicate with each other, although we certainly did. And I was standing outside, for my few minutes outside at my cell. He came walking up. He stood there for a minute, and with his sandal on the dirt in the courtyard, he drew a cross and he stood there. And a minute later, he rubbed it out, and walked away.

For a minute there, there was just two Christians worshipping together. I'll never forget that moment. (APPLAUSE). So every day.

Toot again - I watched this forum - those who did will note how terribly uncomfortable Mccain was talking about his faith. It was gall in his mouth. I don't believe him. The smart-butt in me wants to make a very sarcastic remark about him being the beer baron given Cindy's job and all but i will refrain. Woops - too late. I will post no more comments about these guys - just had to defend my honor from the mean Georgian.

I was talking about Sarah Palin.

Yeah, Palin seems legit. I actually really like her. I don't share a lot of her views but its hard to say how often we hear Mccain advisors talking through her. She sometimes seems uncomfortable with what she is asked to say. I think she is even better than how she comes off. If she were actually running for President I might take pause. Maybe in a few years.

I'm not sure that I understood what this blog was about. I think it was stated to me "have some fun with it!" If hot button opinions are to be posted I think it should get a new name ( yes, rofosh liked to push hot buttons) like "I'm right & you're wrong" now that would suit rofosh just fine. maybe I'm wrong and am just lecturing again.
